An increasing amount of technology is being used in healthcare to improve the quality of care and to keep care available. But what is 'good care'? And is that the same for patients, nurses, and managers? To answer these and other questions, we investigate the impact of healthcare technology, together with its users.
Our research on ethics and technology in healthcare focuses on three main themes. First of all, the technology in daily care practice, centred on nursing and caring actions. We also investigate the organisation and effects of citizen participation in healthcare innovations, and we supervise research and implementation processes for healthcare technology.
Key research themes
- Technology in daily healthcare practice
- Citizen participation in healthcare research and innovations
- Ethical guidance of healthcare research and innovations
Ethical parallel track in the development of QoroNano
In this project, we collaborated with ECsens, a start-up focused on biosensor technology. The collaboration revolved around ethical reflection on the development and implementation of QoroNano, a COVID-19 rapid test.
