Information technology is penetrating all aspects of our daily lives. What does it mean to be human in a technological environment that exerts a never ending influence and is never 'off'? How does this affect our thinking, feeling, choosing and actions? How can citizens, governments, institutions and companies adopt a responsible attitude in this force field and respect public values?
In this focus area we investigate the impact of digitalisation. We use qualitative research methods, with insights from the philosophy of technology and applied ethics, and our practical working methods. In conversations with professionals, we link forms of communication to public values, so that together we can make the responsible use of technology more practical.
