The climate crisis poses a major ethical challenge. Technology production and excessive human consumption are key factors. Can technology become sustainable? This question requires different ways of thinking and acting. How can we work towards a circular economy? Should we strive for degrowth? How do we restore the balance in nature-humanity-technology?
Key research themes
- Balancing nature-humanity-technology: How do we prevent technology from becoming a wedge between humans and nature?
- Economy, sustainability and technology: Ethical reflection on innovation and multiple value creation, circular economy, degrowth and green growth.
- Thinking and acting sustainably: How do we achieve cultural change? Can we think and act differently, and where do we find the motivation for change?
Value-driven research by Cirkelregio de Achterhoek
Circular Economy is an essential topic for our research group; therefore, we collaborated with Cirkelregio de Achterhoek, the circular construction knowledge centre for governments, commercial companies and social organisations.
Together with Dyon Temming, owner of Buitenburo, we first researched the values and intrinsic motivations of partners who might join Cirkelregio de Achterhoek. Next, we advised Cirkelregio on how to respond to and utilise these values.
