Social Work
We believe it is important that people, groups and communities living in vulnerable situations get the support they need to participate fully in society.
At the Social Work Research Group, we contribute to this by conducting applied research focusing on strengthening the methodological skills of social workers.

Our focus
The Social Work Research Group focuses on three different programme lines.
Raising children and growing up
The Raising children and Growing up programme line uses applied research to evaluate the social work methods used by youth workers and the outcomes of youth work. This relates to both specialised youth care and the front-line field. The two spearheads are 'strengthening the pedagogical basis and 'quality of youth support'.
Co-existence and community
In the programme line ‘Co-existence and community', we aim to improve the quality of community life. We focus on factors at both societal and organisational level. Characteristic of this programme line is the pursuit of an inclusive society that encourages prosperity, advocates equality of opportunity and where people look out for each other.
Giving meaning and recovery
In the ‘Giving Meaning and Recovery’ programme line, we conduct research that focuses on how social work can contribute to preventing and supporting psychosocial distress and mental health problems. Inter-professional collaboration and narrative research are leading here.
News from the research group
How can we work together?
We collaborate with partners in the field, companies, social organisations in the healthcare, welfare and municipality domain, with students and citizens. We set up and implement joint projects. Would you like to start a research project with us? Get in touch and explore our goals, research ideas, and funding opportunities together.
Exchanging and sharing knowledge is important to us. Does your organisation or company’s interests coincide with one of our research themes? We would like to collaborate so we can share our knowledge at meetings, workshops, events or in a network.
Together with our partners, we ensure the development, evaluation and implementation of research, products and services for professional practice, education and science. We are happy to discuss opportunities for collaboration.
